All About Roulette Games
There are several versions of roulette, and each is likely to be found in a single online casino. They are European Roulette, American Roulette and French Roulette. The difference between them is small, although the American Roulette has the highest casino edge of the three.
The main difference between American and European roulette games lies in the matter of the zero sections. A European roulette wheel has only a single zero section while an American roulette layout contains both single and a double zero section. The house advantage in European roulette is 2.7%, while a casino edge on the American version of the same game is almost 5.3%. Therefore more favorable odds impel many players to play European roulette games.
American Roulette
American Roulette game sprung up from Europe in the mid of 19th century. Nowadays it is one of the most favorite online games. The point of the game is the same as in usual roulette, you place a bet on where you think the ball may land, and you can place a bet on color, number or group of numbers and hope the luck favors you. In online American Roulette, the wheel consists of 38 numbered slots, including a 0 and 00 slots. There are two main types of bets in American Roulette, they are inside and outside bets. An inside bet is a bet where the player bets on any roulette number from 0-36 or on a small group of up to six numbers. An outside bet is a bet placed outside the roulette table layout on colors (red or black) or on larger combinations of twelve or eighteen numbers.
European Roulette
As mentioned, European Roulette offers a lower house edge than the American version. European Roulette has 37 slots in the wheel; it doesn’t offer the double zero. It also offers the "en prison" rule, which returns half of one's Red/Black, High/Low or Odd/Even bet if the ball lands on zero, or imprisons the bet on the table for another spin (depends upon the player's choice). If it wins the second time around, the bet is returned without winnings. European roulette can also use "La Partage" rule that suggests that a player has no option of choosing whether to have half of bet back or have one more spin. Here he can only take half of money. In European roulette La Partage is allowed to be applied only to outside bets.
French Roulette
French Roulette has certain features that make it distinct from other roulette games. In French Roulette all the numbers on the table are red. On the French roulette wheel, as on all roulette wheels, the numbers are red and black. And, as in all roulette games, you can still place an even-money bet on red or black. So you shouldn’t pay much attention to this difference. All inscriptions on the table are in French so we give you all the French you need to play French roulette:
Pair: even numbers
Impair: odd numbers
Manqué: the low numbers 1-18
Passé: the high numbers 19-36
P-12 (Premiere 12): the first dozen (1-12)
M-12 (Moyenne 12): the middle dozen (13-24)
D-12 (Derniere 12): the last dozen (25-36)
